Motion
That this Council, when engaged in the provision of safe, high quality cycle lanes and other bicycle facilities in Dundalk, accord the same transport status and equal proportionate funding priority as is currently done in the case of all new roadways, dual carriage ways and future motorways and equally that this Council when constructing new roadways at the present time and in the future will ensure that the same and equal consideration for the safety and convenience of cyclists and pedestrians be given as is provided for motorised traffic.

Motion
That this Council give priority towards the provision of a footpath and a 2.5 wide cycle lane properly marked, with a high quality raised surface from Ballymascanlon Roundabout to the Border through the road works programme and development levies.

Motion
That this council resolves to provide a high quality cycle lane infrastructure in the greater Dundalk area with the following goals:
To offer every Dundalk Person living within a 3 to 5 mile radius of Dundalk Town Centre the opportunity to be able to cycle safely within the town,
That the cycle lanes already proposed through various motions already adopted by the Council will be funded, installed and fully completed no later than the end of 2012,
That in an effort to meet with this target deadline a policy shall be applied so that all new residential, industrial or shopping developments in Dundalk shall henceforth provide funding for, or be required under the planning conditions to build a safe cycle lane connection for access to the town centre, nearby schools, parks or any nearby existing cycle lane routes.
That Dundalk Town Council will set itself the task of establishing by private developer funding, local authority funding, EU Interreg funding and central Government funding the most developed and the highest quality regional cycle lane network in Ireland before the end of the year 2012.

Motion
That by the end of June 2006 this Planning Authority, in accordance with the Dundalk Development Plan 2003-2009 put on public display an Area Action Plan for "Policy Priority Area 12" incorporating adjoining riverside areas: that this plan provide for high quality off road or elevated cycle lanes and footpaths with specific emphasis on links between residential areas and work , recreation and schools (particularly the De La Salle/ Dun Lughaidh and the St. Mary's/Colaiste Ris). And in addition that Dundalk Town Council work with Louth County Council in linking any proposed cycle route starting at the Border to the Dundalk cycle network at the Racecourse Town Boundary.
